Mini Food Pantry

At the Brooklyn Public Library, we’re always looking for ways to serve and support our community—and one way we’re doing that is through our Mini Food Pantry, open during regular library hours. Inspired by the efforts of nearby libraries in Montezuma and Grinnell, and after seeing the need firsthand throughout 2024, we knew this was something we wanted to offer right here in Brooklyn.
The reality is that food insecurity can touch anyone, and the need doesn’t always wait for the right moment. That’s why our mini pantry is available during regular library hours, providing free, non-perishable food items to anyone who needs them.
If you’re in a position to help, we gladly accept donations of unopened, unexpired non-perishable food items. Every can, box, or bag you contribute helps make sure someone in our community doesn’t go without.
Please know that we will not take monetary donations. If you would like to give in that way, please consider making a food donation, or volunteer at the Brooklyn food pantry downtown, open Wednesdays from 1:00–5:00 PM.
Your generosity, in any form, truly makes a difference. Together, we can create a stronger, more compassionate Brooklyn—one small act of care at a time.
